Frequently asked
The questions students and parents ask us most. If yours isn't here, write to us — a real person reads every message.
How Buddy works
What does Buddy actually do?+
You open an assignment, open Buddy, and it reads the question in front of you. It works the answer out step by step, shows you its reasoning and a draft, and then stops. Nothing is written into your assignment until you press Approve.
Does Buddy ever submit my work?+
No. Buddy never clicks Submit, Turn In, or anything like it. Placing an approved answer in a field is as far as it goes — pressing submit is always yours.
Why does every answer need my approval?+
Because it's your work and your responsibility. The approval step means you read the reasoning before anything lands on the page, and it keeps Buddy from quietly filling in something wrong.
Can I use Buddy without the extension?+
Yes. The workspace on this site lets you paste a question, or attach a picture of one, and get the same step-by-step explanation and draft.
Can I attach a photo of a worksheet?+
Yes — pictures work. Text files are read as text. PDFs aren't supported yet; a screenshot of the page you need help with works instead.
Plans and pricing
What does Buddy cost?+
Buddy is free while we're in private beta. After the beta it's $10 a month, and your first month is free — nothing is charged during it. Full details on the pricing page.
Is there a limit on how much I can ask?+
The free plan covers 50 questions a month and the paid plan covers 400. You'll get a friendly warning as you approach the limit, and you're always allowed to finish the question you're in the middle of.
How do I cancel?+
From account settings, any time. You keep access until the end of the period you've paid for. We don't refund partial periods — see cancellation & refunds.
Platforms and the extension
Which platforms does Buddy support?+
Ordinary webpage fields — text boxes, text areas, multiple choice and dropdowns — are the core, and they cover most of Canvas, Google Classroom, Schoology, Blackboard and Moodle. Canvas worksheets and PDF viewers such as Lumin and Kami are experimental. Google Docs isn't verified yet, and we won't claim a platform works until it has passed our checklist.
Which browsers work?+
Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc and Opera — anything built on Chrome 116 or newer. Safari and Firefox aren't supported.
Is the extension available yet?+
Not quite — the Chrome Web Store listing is still in review. The install page has everything ready for the moment it goes live.
How does the extension connect to my account?+
You click Sign in inside the extension, a small Buddy window opens, and it shows you exactly which account is about to be connected. Approve and you're linked. No codes, no QR, and it can only ever link the account shown on that screen.
Privacy
What does Buddy send to the AI?+
Your question text, the assignment title or course if you've set one, and a picture if you attached one. Nothing else — not the rest of the page, not your name or email. It's never used to train anyone's model. The privacy policy spells out every field.
Is my assignment content stored?+
Your questions, the steps and the drafts stay on your account until you delete them, so your history is there when you come back. Attached pictures are never written to the database — only a note that a picture was attached.
How do I delete everything?+
Account settings has a Delete account option that removes your login, profile, assignments and the extension's access for good. Or email info@meetbuddy.us and we'll do it for you.
Something's broken?
Our troubleshooting guides cover the extension, assignment detection, inserting answers, signing in and billing — and the report form lets you tell us which platform failed.
