Buddy for Chrome
Buddy, right on the page.
Open an assignment in Lumin PDF, Google Docs, Canvas or Kami, click the Buddy icon, and Buddy reads the question and works through it where you already are. Nothing is written into your assignment until you approve it.
The Chrome Web Store listing is still in review — if the button doesn't open a listing yet, it isn't live. The moment it's approved, this same button installs Buddy in one click.
Works in Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave, Arc and Opera — anything built on Chrome 116 or newer.
What it does
- Read the assignment question on the page you're looking at
- Draft an answer and show it to you inside the page
- Insert an answer only after you press Approve
- Save the question to your Buddy assignments so it's there later
What it won't do
- It never types anything without your approval
- It only reads the page when you open Buddy on it
- It counts against the same monthly question allowance as the website
- You can disconnect it at any time from account settings
After you install
Pin Buddy to your toolbar.
Chrome hides new extensions behind the puzzle piece. Thirty seconds of pinning keeps Buddy one click away on every assignment.

Click the puzzle-piece icon
After installing, look at the right end of the Chrome toolbar and click the little puzzle piece. That opens your list of extensions.

Find Buddy in the list
You'll see Buddy for Chrome in the list with a small pin next to it.

Click the pin
Click the pin so it turns blue. Buddy's surfboard icon now stays on your toolbar, one click away on any page.
Using it
Open Buddy while you work.

Open your assignment
Go to the page with the question — Lumin PDF, Google Docs, Canvas, Kami, or anywhere else the assignment lives.

Click the Buddy icon on the toolbar
The Buddy panel slides open on the side of the page you're already on. Buddy only looks at the page once you open it — never before.

Ask, read, approve
Buddy reads the question and works through it step by step. Nothing is written into your assignment until you press Approve.
Connect it to your account.
The first time Buddy opens, it asks to connect to your Buddy account. Signing in happens right inside the extension — no codes, no copying, no QR anything.

The first time you open Buddy on a page, it asks to connect to your Buddy account.

A small window opens
Buddy opens this website in a small sign-in window. Sign in if you're not already — you'll always see exactly which account is about to be linked.

Approve or deny
Press Approve and the window closes itself. That's the only way the extension ever gets access — there's no code to copy, no QR code, nothing to paste.

You're connected
The extension confirms which account it's linked to, and you're set. You can take access back whenever you like from account settings.
The approval window always shows you exactly which account is about to be linked before you press anything. You can disconnect or reconnect at any time from account settings.
If something's off
The extension doesn't appear on my toolbar
New extensions start unpinned. Click the puzzle-piece icon at the right end of the toolbar, find Buddy for Chrome, and click its pin. If it's not in the list at all, check chrome://extensions to make sure it's installed and switched on.
Connecting fails or the window says the request expired
Connection requests only stay open for a few minutes. Close the small window, click the Buddy icon again, and approve promptly. If it still fails, sign out of the website, sign back in, and try once more.
The connect page says "extension not detected"
That page only continues when it can see the extension on your browser. Install Buddy for Chrome first, then reopen the connect page from the extension itself (click the Buddy icon) rather than typing the address. On the account page, the Reconnect button does the same thing.
Buddy says I'm signed in as the wrong account
The extension links whichever account approves in the sign-in window. Disconnect it from account settings, then reconnect while signed in as the account you want.
Buddy stopped responding on a page
Refresh the page and open Buddy again. Some pages (like the Chrome Web Store itself, or chrome:// pages) don't allow extensions to run at all — that's a Chrome rule, not a Buddy problem.
